My favorite thing about this submission is that you say it is to avoid getting “too many duplicates” like you already know that it is going to happen, but this is just a system to try to keep the madness at bay. I love that.

I did this in 2007. I called it my Book Traffic Control database or BTC for short. In 2011 I started on my MLIS. Now I’m a copy-cataloger.

If this near future perfect school is supposed to be so technologically advanced, why the fuck would you get rid of IT? OK—- maybe that’s the only realistic part of the stupid article.

Guess what— there’s no money for any of these advancements in public schools and won’t be for a good long while given the current political power divide.

Language learning on a smartphone? Seriously? Those aps are CRAP for genuine learning.

I just heard about the massive gutting of the Urbana Free Library’s collection done at your request, and that the sole criterion you used was to remove books that were more than 10 years old. When I read this I felt like I had been kicked in the stomach, and that feeling will not wear off for a while, I think.
